Newable is looking to appoint Business Advisers with excellent analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, communication and business administration skills to establish a supportive relationship with a wide range of people and organisations to join our dynamic and fast paced Business Advice teams.

The main purpose of the role is to make a significant contribution to the development of the relationships we manage and deliver across multiple programmes for the government’s business support initiatives across several government departments including the Department for Business & Trade, the British Business Bank’s Start up Loan company and Innovate UK. You will also work collaboratively with other business support organisations and business schools/universities across the UK to maximise opportunities for the SMEs enrolled on these programmes.

A background of working with SMEs, the ability to demonstrate empathy for entrepreneurial culture and to build effective relationships quickly with the founders/owners/senior management of these companies are crucial. You will be a confident networker and be able to build professional relationships with other public and private sector business support providers at a local level. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.

You should have experience of supporting SMEs at all stages of their business lifecycle from early stage through to growth and succession. Specialist knowledge in a particular business function or sector would be an additional asset.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To facilitate a holistic analysis of client businesses to gain an in-depth understanding of their current performance and potential for growth.
  • Helping companies to strengthen their potential through one-to-one and group advisory & mentoring sessions.
  • Promotion of local and national funding opportunities for SMEs and helping companies to access this funding and private finance.
  • To select business support services that meet the agreed needs, from the full range of private and public sector providers
  • Acting as a credible strategic coach and mentor to client businesses to identify them and support them in their development.
  • Identifying, establishing, and managing relationships with business support organisations.

You will work with a team of innovations & growth specialists, business & international trade advisers, mentoring relations advisers and consortium partners, collaborating, supporting, sharing & referring expertise as required. You will need to have excellent networking, project management, reporting and communication skills, be familiar with the UK and SME regional and national business support infrastructure.

To perform this role to our high standards, you must be people-focused, an excellent communicator, analytical and innovative, with excellent planning, organisational, administrative and execution skills. You will be expected to work effectively both on your own initiative and alongside your team and our delivery partners, to work remotely and in office as required and have experience of business customer relationship management.
